How do our students dramatically improve in essay writing?
Our latest survey indicates that 95% of our students find success with the TOEFL or IELTS within 3 months. For essay-writing focused tests, students will find their progress even faster.
Our students learn about 150 new words every day through the Cognitive-communicative Approach which in part involves the intense study of Greek and Latin roots, coupled with a basic understanding of Old English, Old French and Old Norse roots. Thanks to his years of teaching and research Frank Miao has been able to create two vocabulary lists that are indispensible to any student of the English language: the Active 1700 and the Passive 1800.
We provide a wealth of sample essays for students of all levels to study and emulate so that they can gain insight into the writing process.
We dedicate a lot of time to reviewing essays with students, one-on-one and in groups. When a student sets out to write each new essay, he or she has a solid understanding of what he or she has to do to make it better than the last.
We have a strong team of highly educated and well-rounded instructors who have all proven their academic prowess, compassion and spirit. Every day we share our knowledge with students, and provide them with rewarding challenges.
Most of all, we understand that essay writing is a skill fundamental to success in secondary school and university. The ability to write effectively can really set a student apart from the competition, and is highly valuable in all areas of study.
We can proudly say that we teach beyond test strategies, and all our students dramatically elevate their English proficiency within a short period of time. In other words, what we are doing for our students is helping them lay a solid foundation for their education with top institutions of higher learning in North America including the University of Toronto, the University of Waterloo, McGill University, the University of British Columbia, Simon Fraser University, the University of Victoria, the British Columbia Institute of Technology, and the University of Washington (just south of the border in the US).
